Can the frequency range be increased beyond the official specifications?

Yes it can. It's just a matter of putting in different capacitors at the input side of the high gain amplifier board. See the User Manual for more information.

Can the data acquisition board that comes with the Magnum be used for other things?

Absolutely. The board has a 12 bit ADC with a maximum sampling rate of 100 ksps. The included interface board with screw terminals makes it convenient for experiments.

Can the Magnum sensor be used indoors?

It can be used indoors, but usually the Earth's magnetic field in a building is very distorted due to the ferromagnetic materials used in its structure. This translates into a distorted resonance peak when using the Magnum sensor in a typical building. The recommended setup for the Magnum is to have the sensor outdoors, with all of the electronics indoors. The standard cable length attached to the Magnum sensor is 15 meters (50 ft). You can make the length of the cable longer, but you may then have to change the tuning capacitors.

What are the computer system requirements?

The requirements are:

• A 200 MHz PC with at least 64 MB of RAM, and a free PCI slot
• At least 100 MB of free disk space
• Operating system requirements are Windows 95 or later
