Orange Skin

Macro and Micro Picture of the Day 2020-01-18

Here is orange (Citrus sinensis) skin. Wikipedia says the orange is the most cultivated fruit tree in the world. On the left is a 0.5 mm diameter pencil lead for scale. Orange skin often has some green coloration when harvested, and is exposed to ethylene gas to turn it orange for aesthetic purposes.

Equipment used: Canon EOS Rebel T5i with 49 mm long extension tube.
