Douglas Fir Needle

Macro and Micro Picture of the Day 2020-01-22

Here is a Rocky Mountain Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii var. glauca) needle. On the left is a 0.5 mm diameter pencil lead for scale. Rocky Mountain Douglas fir is a large tree that can grow up to 220 ft (67 m) tall and get over 1,200 years old.

Equipment used: Canon EOS Rebel T5i with 49 mm long extension tube.
