Three-leaf Sumac

Macro and Micro Picture of the Day 2020-08-12

Here are the berries and leaf of the three-leaf sumac (Rhus trilobata) in the foothills of Boulder County, Colorado. This plant grows in western North America from western Canada to northern Mexico, and from the Great Plains to California. The Acoma and Apache tribes have eaten these berries raw.
