Here is a cocklebur (Xanthium strumarium) plant with burs at Rabbit Mountain in Boulder County, Colorado on September 12, 2016. People and animals have died after eating large amounts of this plant due to the toxin carboxyatractyloside.

Equipment used: Canon EOS Rebel T5i with a standard zoom lens (EF-S 18-55 mm).
